Center for New Directions

The Center for New Directions at CEI is one of six programs in Idaho whose mission is to assist adults wishing to change or improve their education and/or employment. We specialize in career development services for single parents, displaced homemakers, those considering non-traditional training or employment and other special populations. Services to provide support and career opportunities for CEI students are available.

What and Who

Plan for Success

A counselor will meet with you to determine what your needs are. If you wish to explore new careers or acquire new skills, career exploration is available. If you are a student and want to ensure success in your program or optimal placement in employment, the counselor will assist with effective study strategies, managing test anxiety, overcoming barriers and connecting to campus and community resources.

Non-Traditional Student Support Services

A gender-specific non-traditional student is one whose gender is under-represented in his/her career field (less than 25%) If you are a woman entering the auto trades or a man entering most health professions you may qualify for additional resources thru the Center for New Directions.

Single Parent and Displaced Homemaker Program

From career counseling to individual Academic case management, the SP/DH program is designed to help single parents achieve academic, career, and personal success. Assistance includes:

  • Life Management Coaching
  • Textbook assistance
  • Personal Counseling
  • Fee Waivers
