COVID-19 Information

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Information

Face coverings are required in all CEI buildings.

Stay home when you don’t feel well. Monitor yourself for the symptoms of COVID-19, which can range from mild to severe, appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus, and include the following:

  • Fever or chills - Please take you temperature every day before you come to campus and stay home if it is 100.4 F or above.

  • Cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

Face coverings are required in all CEI buildings at all times and in outdoor campus spaces where 6 feet of physical distancing can not be maintained.  CEI students will be given with a free CEI buff, while supplies last, if they visit Student Affairs in Building 3. Reusable, cloth face coverings are also available for purchase in the CEI Bookstore in Building 3.

The College has a Face Covering Procedure for Students and the Public. Students who do not wear a face covering in a CEI building and do not put one on when asked to by a CEI employee will be asked to leave the building. Additional information can be found in the procedure.

We ask that all members of the campus community practice physical distancing and maintain at least six feet of distance between one another at all times. Signs reminding the campus community to maintain this physical distancing have been placed around camps.

We ask that all members of the campus community wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when hand washing is not possible. We also ask that everyone use the hand sanitizer stations that have been placed outside of classrooms as they enter a classroom.

All CEI buildings are thoroughly cleaned daily by CEI Custodial staff with EPA-approved products. Common areas containing high-touch surfaces are cleaned more frequently throughout the day. Additionally, plexiglas barriers have been installed in high-frequency visitor areas around campus.

CEI Course Modes

We are offering roughly one-third of our General Education courses via face-to-face instruction on campus with physical distancing measures in place this fall semester.  The remaining two-thirds or so of our General Education courses are available online via Blackboard and Zoom.

The majority of our Health Professions courses will be available online via Blackboard and Zoom.

We are currently offering the majority of our Trades & Industry courses via face-to-face instruction on campus with physical distancing and other protective measures in place this fall.

CEI Student Services

CEI Admissions, Recruitment & Advising is open open 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

We process all new applications and admit new students to the college, face-to-face, virtually, or over the phone. This includes helping students understand the admission process, identifying needed items for admission, as well as where to find them, or how to complete them. We also assist the new student with onboarding to the college, which includes accessing all the needed CEI computer accounts and planning and registering for classes (virtual new student orientation). We also work with current students to advise them and ensure they are on track to graduate on time.

We are practicing physical distancing, by wearing face coverings at all times and keeping a six-foot distance whenever we meet with students.

We are available to schedule appointments in person, over the phone, Zoom, or Microsoft teams.

Campus tours will be given to groups of 10 or fewer. Face coverings will be required to be worn during the entire campus tour. Physical distancing will maintained whenever possible.

CEI Bookstore FAQs

  • What do I do if I need a book?
To better serve you, please have your schedule ready. You can obtain a printout at Student Affairs or have it on your smart phone. A Bookstore employee will have a booklist to help you prepare as well.
  • Why are the lines so long?
Due to half occupancy requirements, we can only serve seven (7) individuals at a time. This includes all guests.
  • Why is there tape on the floor?
Due to the constant increase of viral load in the community, we must adhere to physical distancing. The tape marks on the floor serve as a reminder to stay a safe distance apart.
  • How do I pick up my online order?
Please have your name and order number ready. A staff member will bring the order to the door and hand it to staff in the hallway who will hand it to you.
Please note: Our online order system can take up to two hours before an order appears in our queue. Orders are then picked by staff from textbooks on our sales floor and processed.
  • Where can I go to learn more about curbside pickup
  • If you are out of a book I need, when can I expect to receive it?
We will do our best to make certain you are apprised of text arrivals. You are welcome to prepay for a special order, or see if it can be ordered through where it will be fulfilled by one of our sister stores. Anything we run out of we will overnight at our expense.
  • What do I do if my instructor changed the required book?
We will honor changes made by instructors and refund your materials provided they are in the same condition as when they were purchased. Any exceptions will be on a case-by-case basis.
  • What are you doing to ensure student safety?
Adhere to occupancy limits which are based on store square footage.
    • Sanitize all hard surfaces every two hours.
    • Wipe down the cash wrap after every customer.
    • Increased airflow to ensure a positive pressure differential.
    • All materials coming in are quarantined for 24 hours.
    • All staff are required to document their health to ensure they do not bring the virus with them.
    • Provide curbside pickup (contactless delivery) and fulfill orders in a disinfected environment.
    • Provide extra masks (including children’s sizes) and hand sanitizer for customer use.
  • What are my options if I am unable to come to the bookstore during business hours?
Http:// is your best option for order fulfillment. We allow family members to pick up orders for you. We are open 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Student Clubs and Advisors

We recommend that clubs meet through Microsoft Teams (free to all CEI students, staff and faculty), both for virtual meetings or face-to-face meetings that can allow Microsoft Teams participants to be present in a virtual setting alongside a face-to-face group. If a club does not have a laptop or access to a laptop, please contact Dean Mike Walker.

Students may meet face-to-face as clubs but the requirements if the following requirements are met:

  1. Your club advisor must be present at your meeting in order for your club to meet on campus.
  2. No food may be consumed at your meeting on campus.
  3. Everyone must maintain at least six feet of social/physical distancing.
  4. Everyone must wear face coverings/masks.
  5. You may book rooms through Student Life by emailing Connor Sorensen or calling 208-535-5422. Try to book the Student Senate room, which has space for up to eight, physically distanced people and is webcam capable (work with Student Life to arrange for a Laptop) or the cafeteria or another similar, large space. While the weather is nice, we also encourage clubs that want to meet face-to-face to try meeting outside on the quad or other areas, while still practicing physical distancing and wearing face coverings/masks.
  6. Try to incorporate Microsoft Teams in your face-to-face meetings, when possible/reasonable, to encourage participation from students who may be physically distancing. If this is not possible, it is understood. Student Affairs and Student Life will try to help accommodate this.

Questions can be addressed to either Interim Associate Dean Hailey Mack ( or Dean Mike Walker (
