Christian Fellowship
Advisor – Krysta Madrigal (Krysta.madrigal@cei.edu)
Description – Weekly meeting on campus where we will play games and get to know each other, read from the bible and have a discussion/ask questions, and have prayer time.
Purpose – To provide an opportunity for students at CEI to encounter and trust the Jesus of the Bible and then, as a whole-life response, to love God and love people.
Vision: Students at CEI will develop a Christian community that is welcoming, centered on Christ, and personally and communally transformational.
Values:
- Christ-centered. Our aim is to build people's affection for Christ by turning our attention to his all-sufficiency. God loves me, in Christ, but life does not revolve around me. Jesus alone can give true rest, rightness with God, reformation and resurrection. Also implied in this is that I do not dictate what is true.
- Fostering community. Students are encouraged to be hospitable and to invite others into their family life and interests as well as to bear burdens, pray for each other, and build each other up.
- Scholarship. Discussions and studies will be intelligent, based on facts, and apply high level critical thinking skills.
- Apolitical. Our faith should shape our politics, not the other way around.
- Service. Be a blessing to both CEI and our community, not a burden. If there is a service project needed, we should be first in line.
- Adhere to orthodox Christian doctrine (i.e. as stated in the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed or the National Association of Evangelicals (https://www.nae.net/statement-of-faith/). We do not center on secondary doctrines.
- Listen to people with humility and treat people with respect, because of their inherent value--being made in the image of God--regardless of background or belief. Don’t “categorize & demonize.”
- CEI Campus Christian Club is not a substitute for a Christian church. We encourage students to attend and use their spiritual gifts in an orthodox Christian church.
