College of Eastern Idaho Celebrates Career and Technical Education Month

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a nationwide celebration recognizing the value of hands-on education in preparing students for high-wage, high-skill, and in-demand careers. At College of Eastern Idaho (CEI), more than 20 CTE programs are equipping students with practical skills that directly support local workforce needs.

CEI offers programs across trades, technology, healthcare, and business, including Automotive Technology, Heavy-Duty Diesel, Welding Technology, Energy Systems Technology, Mechatronics, Cybersecurity, Information Technology Services, Business Management, Legal Studies & Paralegal, Digital Media Specialist, and a wide range of healthcare pathways.

Cybersecurity and IT programs continue to see strong enrollment and connect directly to CEI’s Digital Forensics and Analytics Bachelor of Applied Science, allowing students to complete a bachelor’s degree in an accelerated format. Beginning this fall, courses in the Cybersecurity and Technology department will be housed in the new Battelle Energy Alliance Future Tech Building in partnership with Frontier Credit Union.

Healthcare programs remain a cornerstone of CEI’s CTE offerings. Students in Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, Surgical Technology, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy receive extensive hands-on training designed to prepare them for immediate employment in clinical and medical settings. CEI’s new Dental Hygiene program is scheduled to begin enrolling students for Fall 2026 with more details coming soon.

Through Career and Technical Education, CEI provides affordable and flexible pathways that help students enter the workforce quickly, meet labor demands, and strengthen the East Idaho community. At the same time, the college offers strong general education and transfer degree options for students planning to continue toward a bachelor’s degree.
