College of Eastern Idaho’s College and Career Readiness Program Celebrates Record GED Completions
June 25, 2026
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — College of Eastern Idaho’s College and Career Readiness program is celebrating a record year of GED completions. As of June 11, 2026, CEI’s College and Career Readiness program has recorded 79 GED completions, continuing a strong upward trend for adult learners in eastern Idaho. The program saw 40 GED completions in FY 2024 and 56 in FY 2025.
College and Career Readiness helps students learn English as a Second Language, prepare for the GED, strengthen academic skills, and take steps toward college, career training, and better employment opportunities. Many students begin in ESL courses and later continue into GED preparation as they build confidence, improve English skills, and pursue new educational and career goals.
For many students, the program is more than a class. It is a turning point.
One 2026 GED graduate shared that her journey began years ago after moving to the United States with a dream of going to college. After taking English classes through CCR, balancing work, motherhood, and family responsibilities, she returned to her goal and completed her GED.
"Without the program and the help of the people who worked there, I wouldn’t be proud of myself like I am right now,” she shared. “My story is barely beginning thanks to this program, and my family and I will always be grateful.”
Another student described entering the program after years of believing school was not for him. After finding stability, building a family, and committing to his education, he earned his GED nearly 30 years after his original high school graduation date.
These stories reflect the broad impact of CCR, which serves adults, out-of-school youth, English language learners, working parents, and community members seeking a stronger path forward.
