IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Governor Brad Little visited College of Eastern Idaho on April 28, spending just over an hour on campus meeting with students, faculty, and staff while learning more about the college’s continued growth and impact across eastern Idaho.
During his visit, Governor Little engaged directly with students, asking thoughtful questions about their academic experiences, career goals, and the programs preparing them for Idaho’s workforce. Conversations throughout the visit focused on CEI’s role in expanding access to education, strengthening workforce training, and supporting the state’s economic future.
The visit included a tour of the Battelle Energy Alliance Future Tech Building in partnership with Frontier Credit Union, where the Governor saw firsthand the progress of the state-of-the-art facility designed to support advanced technical education and workforce development. He also visited campus instructional spaces and met with faculty from CEI’s welding and automotive technology programs, gaining insight into the hands-on training preparing students for in-demand careers.
The tour highlighted CEI’s continued investment in industry-aligned programs and modern learning environments that reflect the needs of Idaho employers and communities.
President Lori Barber said the visit was an opportunity to showcase both the college’s momentum and the students at the center of its mission.
“We were honored to welcome Governor Little to CEI and share the innovative work taking place across our campus,” said Barber. “His visit gave us the opportunity to highlight our students, our growth, and the forward-looking efforts that are shaping CEI’s future. We appreciate the time he spent with our college and our community.”
Governor Little’s visit underscores the importance of partnerships between education and industry, as well as the role community colleges play in preparing Idaho’s workforce and supporting long-term economic growth.
