CAD – Advanced (Solidworks)

This 5-week course introduces advanced principles and practices of Computer-Aided Design (CAD). Students learn to create and modify 3D models and assemblies by interpreting engineering drawings and sketches. Through quizzes, written tutorials, and in-class demonstrations, students build on the knowledge gained in the fundamentals course. This exam-preparation course helps students prepare to take the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) exam. Vouchers for the exam are covered by Tuition.

Learning Outcomes -

At the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to:

  1. Create 3D models and assemblies from engineering drawings and sketches.
  2. Read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings at a working level.
  3. The ability to create assemblies from previously created models/parts.
  4. Use advanced SolidWorks tools to create more complex models and parts.
  5. Apply strategies that support successful preparation for the CSWA exam.

Certification -

Students will leave the course with a Certificate of Completion from the College of Eastern Idaho WTCE.  Additionally, students will be provided with the time and opportunity to take the CSWA Exam, which provides a verified certification from SolidWorks. This course is an exam preparation course designed for Professional Development and/or Personal Enrichment.
