Certified Phlebotomy Technician
Prepare for a Career as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
This phlebotomy course equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to safely and effectively draw blood for diagnostic purposes. Combining classroom instruction with hands-on training in a mock clinical setting, the curriculum covers:
- Anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system
- Medical terminology related to phlebotomy
- Infection control and safety procedures
- Patient identification and communication skills
- Blood collection equipment and their uses
- Venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques
- Special considerations for pediatric and geriatric patients
- Handling and processing of blood specimens
- Quality control and assurance in phlebotomy
Course materials will be delivered through lectures, labs, and online assignments. Upon completion of course, along with required venipunctures and capillary or finger sticks, students will be eligible to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification exam through the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
Registration Requirements:
- Must be 18 or older
- Submit a copy of:
- High school diploma or GED
- Proof of current health insurance
