Course Overview

This one-day course provides a comprehensive, entry-level overview of CPR, AED, and First Aid for infant, child, and adult emergencies. Through instructor-led demonstration and hands-on practice, students will gain essential lifesaving skills to respond to medical, injury, and other emergencies. Participants will leave the class prepared to recognize and respond to common emergency situations in both home and community settings.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped to:

  • Perform adult, child, and infant CPR 
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of an AED
  • Respond to choking and life-threatening situations
  • Provide basic first aid care for common medical conditions and injuries

Certification

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a Heartsaver First-Aid CPR AED course completion eCard through the American Heart Association. Certification is valid for two years.

Target Audience

This class is intended for:

  • Individuals seeking personal CPR, AED, and First Aid certification for general preparedness
  • Certified Family Home providers in need of approved training for compliance requirements
  • Caregivers and community members responsible for the care of infants, children, or adults in non-clinical settings
  • Those seeking foundational emergency response skills for home, workplace, or community use

Note: This course does not meet the State requirements for daycare providers and is not appropriate for students entering CNA, EMT, nursing, or other healthcare provider-level programs. Please register for the BLS CPR course instead if pursuing healthcare education or clinical certification requirements.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS COURSE?

Participants must register prior to the start of class. Registration closes at the end of the business day on Friday preceding the scheduled class date. Classes are subject to minimum enrollment requirements and may be canceled if sufficient registrations are not received. No previous CPR experience is required.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY CERTIFICATION CARD?

Certifications for this class are issued through the American Heart Association. Students who successfully complete the course will receive an email with a link to access their eCard through the AHA website.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU OFFER THIS CLASS?

CPR classes are offered regularly throughout the year. Classes are held on Mondays from 9am to 2pm at the Professional Development Center (240 Technology Dr), excluding holidays and campus closures.

HOW MUCH DOES THIS COURSE COST?

Tuition for this course is $95.00, which includes the required course manual and certification card.

IS THERE A HYBRID OPTION AVAILABLE?

No. This course requires in-person attendance due to the hands-on skills assessment and certification requirements.

IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT?

Students must be 16 years of age or older to enroll in this course. Participants should also be able to meet the physical requirements to perform CPR skills and meet any age requirements associated with their educational program or employer.

WHAT IS THE ATTENDANCE POLICY?

Because certification requires successful completion of all course components, students must attend the entire class session. Late arrivals, early departures, or missed course content may result in the inability to receive certification.

IS THIS COURSE ACCEPTED FOR CERTIFIED FAMILY HOMES?

Yes. This course meets requirements for Certified Family Home certification.

CAN I USE THIS COURSE FOR CNA, EMT, OR OTHER HEALTHCARE PROGRAMS?

No. This course does not meet requirements for healthcare education programs such as CNA, EMT, nursing, or other clinical training pathways. Students pursuing those programs should enroll in Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR instead.
