Electrical Motor Controls

This is an 8-hour controls class that teaches the operation, troubleshooting, and the "Need to Know" aspects of an electrical controls system found in industry today. PowerPoint presentation and hands-on practice will be used during this class. Journeyman and master electricians are NO LONGER required to have a total of 24 hours of continuing education every three years in order to renew their license, but we still want to offer this education and experience.

Learning Outcomes -

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency using hand-held multimeter
  2. Recognize common electrical symbols
  3. Identify common electrical control components
  4. Explain operation of basic electrical control components
  5. Demonstrate Hands-On ability to construct basic electrical circuits using the information and diagrams provided
  6. Demonstrate proficiency troubleshooting basic electrical circuits using a hand-held multimeter

Certification -

Students will leave the course with an 8-hour Certificate of Completion from the College of Eastern Idaho WTCE. This Certificate can be utilized as educational hours for industry-related training. This course is for Professional Development and/or Personal Enrichment.
