Welding
Practical Welding:
Practical Welding is a 2-week long course that is designed as an introduction for individuals who are new to welding, as well as for those seeking a shorter course to sharpen and improve their existing skills. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of SMAW (Stick Welding) and GMAW (MIG Welding) through hands-on instruction and practical application.
Learning Outcomes -
- At the end of this course, participants will be:
- Comfortable around the set-up and breakdown of basic welding equipment.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to perform basic SMAW (Stick Welding) operations.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to perform basic GMAW (MIG Welding) operations.
- Equipped with the confidence to tackle small projects or repair jobs at home, the ranch, or your job.
Certification -
There are no certifications attached to this welding course. This course is for Personal enrichment.
Essentials of Welding – 1:
Essentials of Welding 1 is a 5 week-long introductory course designed for both beginners and individuals with prior welding experience. The course provides hands-on training in SMAW (Stick Welding) and GMAW (MIG Welding) within the lab, while classroom instruction covers common welding processes, joint design, welding symbols, welding positions, welding discontinuities, and cutting processes. Instructors assess each student’s welding abilities and work to continually develop their knowledge, confidence, and technical skills throughout the course.
Learning Outcomes -
- At the end of this course, participants will be:
- Equipped with the knowledge of basic weld theory and starting to understand the fabrication process.
- Comfortable around the set-up and break down of common welding equipment.
- Equipped with the ability to perform basic SMAW (Stick Welding) operations effectively.
- Equipped with the ability to perform basic GMAW (MIG Welding) operations effectively.
- Equipped with improved welding skills to bring back to a job or personal project.
Certification -
There are no certifications attached to this welding course. This course is for Professional Development and Personal Enrichment.
Essentials of Welding – 2:
Essentials of Welding 2 is a 5 week-long course designed for students who already possess a solid foundation in welding and are ready to further advance their skills and knowledge. This course focuses on advanced GMAW (MIG Welding) processes, including spray transfer, pulse welding, and dual-shield FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding). Students will gain hands-on experience with these processes in both flat and vertical positions, learn specialized techniques for vertical welding applications, and complete multiple groove weld test plates. A prior background in welding or successful completion of Essentials of Welding 1 is required before enrolling in this course.
Learning Outcomes -
- At the end of this course, participants will be equipped with:
- The ability to perform GMAW (MIG Welding) using several different weld processes and weld positions.
- The ability to perform FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) using several different weld processes and weld positions.
- A firm understanding of how weld positions and processes affect the strength and integrity of welds.
Certification -
There are no certifications attached to this welding course. This course is for Professional Development and Personal Enrichment.
Essentials of Welding – 3:
Essentials of Welding 3 is a 5 week-long course that focuses on GTAW (TIG Welding) and is designed for both beginners and experienced welders looking to expand their TIG welding skills. This course introduces and applies the fundamentals of TIG welding through hands-on instruction and practical application. Students will learn TIG welding techniques across a variety of materials, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. While completion of Essentials of Welding 1 and 2 is not required, prior welding experience is recommended before enrolling in this course.
Learning Outcomes -
- At the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the ability to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) by performing welds across a variety of joint configurations, processes, and materials with improved accuracy and consistency.
- Apply appropriate material preparation techniques by identifying, selecting, and preparing a range of welding materials in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
- Analyze and troubleshoot welding operations by identifying common weld defects, evaluating their causes, and recommending effective corrective and preventive measures.
Certification -
There are no certifications attached to this welding course. This course is for Professional Development and Personal Enrichment.
