CEI Associate of Arts Degree Approve

The State Board of Education approved Thursday the College of Eastern Idaho’s associate of arts
degree in liberal arts.

Students can now register for the 60-credit, two-year degree, which contains the general education
courses needed to transfer to a four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

Idaho Falls — The College of Eastern Idaho is officially up and running after hosting its first board meeting Monday evening.

Eastern Idaho Technical College is now a community college offering an associate of arts degree, and in January an associate of science degree. The college will continue its technical programs. The board meeting commemorated the school’s official name being in effect.

Voters in Eastern Idaho have overwhelmingly approved converting a technical school into a community college. More than 70% of Bonneville County residents who voted in Tuesday’s election agreed to create a community college tax district. The initiative needed at least a two-thirds majority to pass.

Eastern Idaho Technical College will hold its 2017 Commencement Tuesday, May 9, at 7:00 PM, in the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium. Mayor Casper will deliver the commencement address. 473 awards will be issued at EITC Commencement this year (229 Associate of Applied Science degrees/certificates and 244 General Education Development (GED) diplomas).
